What makes a Singaporean Daughter?

To be a daughter of Singapore is to navigate through a complex set of joys and triumphs, sorrows and hardships, identities and revelations that comes with being a woman in Singapore. We do not believe a Singaporean Daughter can be represented by a single definition.

As our pilot project, Every Singaporean Daughter opens a window into the experiences of women in Singapore. We hope to establish a forum to discuss gender equality and its related issues in the context of Singapore. Although the condition of women here is believed to be better than in many other countries, we still have hurdles to face. Often, these hurdles can be subtle and hardly visible to others. As a young society, the mindsets and even basic vocabulary to approach these issues are lacking.

So, let’s start talking – together. We can’t get the conversation going without you.

We want to hear your story – regardless of your gender, legal status, age, race, religion, or past experiences. It doesn’t even have to be your story. It could be your mother’s, your grandmother’s, or the story of any other woman you know or admire.
